BEGINNER /BEGINNER INTERMEDIATE AND EXPERIENCED PADDLERS LOOKING TO ADVANCE THEIR PADDLING AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS

For our local paddlers who are ready to learn more and become better boaters, we have intermediate, advanced and Leadership Camps for you. These camps are for the beginner-intermediate paddlers who are looking to develop their whitewater skills, as well as for more experienced young paddlers who are interested in building their leadership skills through hands-on training. The focus is improving paddling technique, rolling, working on moves that will help you become a more confident boater, while incorporating leadership work and team building skills part of the weekend as well.

Why an Emphasis on Leadership Training?
A key predictor of strong leadership is healthy self-esteem.  Learning to kayak is the perfect opportunity to build that self-esteem.  Why?
1. Learning to kayak/increase skills builds confidence. Confident kids have healthy self-esteem and are not scared of failure or success – an important theme with learning to kayak.

2.  As screens dominate our lives, the need to develop face-to-face communication skills becomes more pressing. Whether it’s in a social or school setting, being able to communicate clearly is a core component of a well-adjusted human being. We will use role playing, problem solving, dealing with fear, working in a team, and working collaboratively with others. We will also focus on setting boundaries, positive reinforcement, and allowing each participant to face the challenges of learning and pushing themselves physically and mentally to builds strong leadership characteristics.

Most importantly: we will have fun!!
